How academically successful are Unity Students?

All of our students are working towards their Ontario Secondary School Diploma and Unity Christian High School Diploma. Most of our students graduate with more than the required 30 credits. 95% of Unity students pass the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test on their first attempt.

Does Unity provide transportation?

Transportation is included in the cost of tuition. We share five bus routes with Timothy Christian School and service Alliston, Oro, Innisfil, Springwater and Sunnidale. These routes are streamlined for efficiency and cost. For more information about the current routes and stops, please contact the school office.

Does Unity provide any form of tuition assistance?

No family pays the real cost of tuition. Every family receives several thousand dollars in financial assistance, regardless of need. This is achieved through regular fundraising throughout the year. Click here to learn more.

Does Unity receive any financial support from municipal, provincial or federal government?

Unity is a not for profit charitable organization. We do not receive any public funding. All of our costs are met through tuition and community fund-raising

What is the governance structure for Unity?

Unity has a Board of Directors who are elected for three year terms. The Board consists of current and alumni parents and even parents of future students. There is a high level of communication between the various committees. Unity is a member of the Ontario Alliance of Christian Schools.

Is Unity affiliated with any particular church denomination?

We are an educational community for families who desire a high quality, Christian education for their children. Our families worship in over 20 different churches.

Are Unity teachers certified by the Ontario College of Teachers?

All of our teachers are certified by the Province of Ontario and some have Masters’ Degrees in Education. Some also have their Christian School Teaching Certificate.

Does Unity have a teacher who works with the special needs of students?

Our Resource teacher works alongside individual students to ensure that his or her academic needs are being met. It is important to us as a community that we work hard to meet the needs of all our students.

How is the school day structured?

School begins at 8.55am and ends at 3.15pm. Lunch is from 12.15 -12.45. The day has five periods.

Does Unity have a uniform?

Although Unity does not have a school uniform, the basic premise of our dress code is respect for self and others. Customized Unity athletic and casual clothing is available for purchase at different times throughout the year.

Does Unity compete in athletics against other schools in Simcoe County?

We are a member of the Simcoe County Athletic Association which means that we compete against high schools in the public school boards. We regularly compete in the Georgian Bay Regional Finals and the Ontario Federation of School Athletics Association. We have teams in basketball, volleyball, cross-country running, track and field, badminton, hockey and rowing.

Does Unity have an extracurricular Arts program?

Unity invites the public to our Performing Arts Centre to see our theatrical productions. Previous performances include The Wizard of Oz, The Importance of Being Earnest and James and the Giant Peach. Our school bands and choirs hold concerts twice a year. Our choir enjoys sharing music on choir tours. They have sung to audiences as far away as Prince Edward Island!

Does Unity have an elected student council?

There are six elected students and they work hard throughout the year to create a lively student social life which include movie nights, dances, a spring banquet and spirit days. These representatives also work on student committees.

Does Unity have clubs?

Unity offers a variety of clubs including music council, athletic council and the yearbook club. We also have a community garden which we share with the local Allandale neighbourhood.
